Aqueous sol–gel synthesis, thermoanalytical, structural and vibrational studies of lithium aluminium molybdate (LiAlMo2O8)

Aqueous tartaric acid-assisted sol–gel preparation technique was successfully applied to synthesise lithium aluminium molybdate with the initial composition of LiAl(MoO4)2. From results thermal analysis and Xray diffraction measurement, effect acid as a ligand on formation homogeneous gel precursor discussed. Besides, X-ray also revealed crystallisation final LiAlMo2O8 ceramic below temperature 400°C. It found that obtained significantly affected impurity phase defined AlMo2O12. The Rietveld refinement crystalline samples showed tendency crystallites growing increase heat-treatment temperature. Similar trends particle were observed in images scanning electron microscopy (SEM) for corresponding heat-treated at different temperatures. Finally, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) both surface morphology crystallite size intensity characteristic vibration chemical bonds.
